Samenwerken

Op deze pagina staat achtergrondinformatie over Pimba voor mensen en/of instellingen die met Pimba willen samenwerken. Pimba is een acroniem en staat voor Project Instrumentaal Muziekonderwijs in de Basisschool. Pimba is al oud: het project is gestart rond het jaar 2000! Het project is in de loop der jaren op verschillende manieren van inhoud veranderd, maar de doelstelling is onveranderd gebleven, namelijk het stimuleren en faciliteren van kinderen die zelf een muziekinstrument willen (leren) bespelen. Pimba is nu een stichting i.o. en zal na de zomer van 2017 een solide juridische basis hebben in de vorm van een stichting.

Doelstelling
Pimba probeert haar doelstellingen te realiseren door het ontplooien van diverse activiteiten die zich centreren op en rond de Pimba website. Kern van de Pimba-methode is een ritmevrije muzieknotatie. Deze laagdrempelige notatie maakt het allereerste begin van een muziekstudie voor kinderen heel toegankelijk.

Geschiedenis
De Pimba-website is ontwikkeld voor 6 instrumenten: dwarsfluit, blokfluit, klarinet, klein koper, gitaar en toetsen. De Pimba-website bestaat voor elk van die instrumenten uit vier onderdelen:
• Bladmuziek in een ritmevrije notatie
• Muziekuitleg
• Quiz 
• Notenleesspel.
In mei 2017 is besloten om de site alleen voor piano/keyboard verder te ontwikkelen en de pagina’s voor de andere instrumenten voorlopig onzichtbaar te maken.

Content en techniek
De site is database-gestuurd en er is een speciaal voor Pimba ontwikkeld CMS (Content Management System) beschikbaar. Via dit CMS wordt de concrete inhoud van de website beheerd (zie de beschrijving hieronder). De site (en het CMS) is zó ingericht dat in de toekomst ook andere instrumenten op betrekkelijk eenvoudige manier kunnen worden toegevoegd of weer zichtbaar kunnen worden gemaakt.

• Muziekuitleg - in drie levels is voor elk instrument specifieke en algemene muziektheoretische informatie beschikbaar. Er bestaat ook een mogelijkheid om uitleg toe te wijzen aan meerdere instrumenten tegelijk. Uiteraard kunnen pagina’s met uitleg worden aangepast en toegevoegd.
• Notenleesspel - de noten verschillen per instrument en per level waardoor een leerling altijd precies díe noten oefent die passen bij de liedjes die hij wil/kan spelen. De concrete noten kunnen per instrument en level in het CMS worden aangepast.
• Quiz - de quizvragen verschillen per instrument en level. Vragen en antwoorden verschijnen altijd in een andere volgorde waardoor de Quiz een hoog 'leergehalte' heeft. Ook bij de Quiz kunnen vragen via het CMS worden toegevoegd en aangepast.
• Liedjes - Er zijn in principe 4 levels beschikbaar voor elk instrument (en een ‘los’ vijfde level voor bijvoorbeeld Kerst en Sinterklaasliedjes). Bij elk level is een algemene toelichting/uitleg beschikbaar. Daarnaast worden per liedje specifieke uitleg en tips gegeven hoe het liedje gespeeld en geoefend kan worden. Er is concrete bladmuziek in een format dat geschikt is voor gebruik via print of tablet. Verder is er een verwijzing naar het originele liedje op YouTube en een mogelijkheid voor een ondersteunend voorbeeldbestand (deze optie wordt nu alleen in het eerste level gebruikt). De plaatjes worden automatisch vanuit YouTube gegenereerd, of kunnen handmatig worden gekozen en ingevoerd. Via het CMS kunnen onbeperkt nieuwe liedjes worden toegevoegd.

Samenwerking
Zoals hiervoor al is gemeld is per medio 2017 besloten om Pimba voorlopig alleen nog verder te ontwikkelen voor piano/keyboard. Om tot een maximale verspreiding te komen zoekt Pimba samenwerking met mensen en (muziek)educatieve organisaties die affiniteit hebben met de allereerste fase van het praktische muziekonderwijs voor kinderen die zelf een muziekinstrument willen bespelen. In het bijzonder is Pimba op zoek naar organisaties en/of individuele docenten die een bijdrage kunnen leveren aan het maken van specifieke liedjes voor dwarsfluit, blokfluit, klarinet, klein koper en gitaar.

Working with Pimba
This page provides background information about Pimba which is intended for those who wish to work with Pimba, whether individuals or organisations. Pimba is an acronym and stands for 'Project Instrumentaal Muziekonderwijs in de Basisschool' (Project for Instrumental Music Education at Elementary school). Pimba has been around for some time, since the year 2000. Although the project has undergone various changes since then, its aim remains unchanged: to encourage and assist children in learning to play a musical instrument. Pimba is in the process of being made into a foundation and, as such, will have a solid legal base after the summer of 2017.

Aims
To achieve its aims Pimba has developed various activities which are centred on and around the Pimba website. A rhythm-free musical notation lies at the heart of the Pimba method. This low-threshold approach makes a music study very accessible to children.

History
The Pimba website has been developed for 6 instruments: flute, recorder, clarinet, small brass, guitar and piano/keyboard. For each of these instruments the Pimba-website has four sections:
• Sheet music in rhythm-free notation
• Musical explanation
• Quiz
• Note-reading game
It was decided in May 2017 that the site will be further developed only for piano/keyboard. The pages for the other instruments are for the time being invisible.

Content and technique
The site is database-driven and a CMS (Content Management System) which has been especially developed for Pimba is available. The specific content of the website is managed via this CMS (see the description below). The site (and the CMS) has been set up in such a way that other instruments can be added quite easily or made visible again.
• Musical explanation – for each instrument there is both specific and general music theory available at three levels. It is also possible to allocate information to several instruments at the same time. It goes without saying that explanatory pages can be added or revised.
• Note-reading game – the notes differ depending on the instrument and level so that a pupil always practises the same notes which match the tunes he/she can or wants to play. These specific notes can be changed according to each instrument and level in the CMS.
•Quiz – the questions differ according to the instrument and the level. Questions and answers always appear in a different sequence so that the Quiz stimulates the learning process. Again, questions can be added to the Quiz or adapted via the CMS.
• Songs – In principle there are four levels for each instrument (and a separate fifth level, for example, for Christmas songs). General information is given at each level. In addition specific explanatory notes and tips are given on how the song could be played and practised. There is sheet music in a format suitable for printing or for use with a tablet. In addition there is a link to the original song on YouTube, as well as an opportunity for a supporting sample file (this option only being available at the first level at the moment). The pictures are automatically generated from YouTube or can be manually chosen and uploaded. An unlimited number of songs can be added via the CMS.

Working together
As mentioned above, it was decided during 2017 to develop Pimba only for piano/keyboard. In order to reach as many children (and teachers!) as possible, Pimba would like to work together with people and (music) educational organisations who have an affinity with the very first phase of practical musical education for children who wish to learn to play an instrument. In particular Pimba is looking for organisations and/or individual teachers who could contribute to making specific songs for flute, recorder, clarinet, small brass and guitar.
